Chief Originals Launches

2 03 2010

A good friend of mine is just about to launch her fabulous t-shirt company Chief Originals into the London Design community. The idea is simple, you design a t-shirt, the community rates it and if enough people like it then it gets printed. The runs are limited to 100 t-shirts so hopefully yours will be the only one you will ever see and you’ll get 10% of the sales too.

She’s after some great ideas to launch the brand and as its a community based idea i thought i’d open it out to you guys so she can pick and chose the best. Payment is assured in the form of T-shirts and hugs.

You can download a PDF of the creative brief here: CHIEF_LAUNCH BRIEF (1)

Le Cool London

2 03 2010

A great weekly digital magazine of all LeCool goings on in London Town. Presenting a selection of weird and wonderful goings on DJ’s, exhibitions, odd movies and performances as well as the trendiest bars and boutiques. It comes out every Thursday so you’ll never be stuck in, wondering what you should do ever again. Ditching the regular paper ‘free-zine format in favour of a horizontal layout LeCool attempts to bridge the gap between blog and traditional magazine.

The fun theory

12 10 2009

Volkswagen has come up with a cute new initiative for the away from ve-hicular design to support fun-ness in design and technology. Fun ways to make doing the mundaine things in life more plesurable. Such as climbing the stairs for instance, tiresome isn’t it. But how about if they were a giant piano?

Take a look at the other things on their site for inspiration.

Closing the door

7 10 2009

There’s no denying humans have advanced incredibly over the last 10 years. Communications technology has meant we are only moments away from anyone on the planet. At first we were reaching out to others, and the first generation of social networking took off, the second genertation took it away from the tech crowd and brought it main stream. The third generation will be about closing that door again, elite cliques of those in the know.

Cliques will exist for everything, knowledge, style, careers, sport or whatever fetish they are into. The cliques will exist off line but they will collaborate on project organise events but comunication will be done online. The members may never meet or they may get together regularly.

A small world kicked off the trend for private social networking sites by restricting new members to those invited by its existing members and has been followed by numerous others.

but what will this mean in the future, perhaps none are better placed to answer that question than the people of The Space collective another private network of forward thinking terestrials breaking down the barriers of what the future holds.

Sexy saves the day!

5 10 2009

Hurrah for Agent Provocateur! Finally a comic book with semi-naked woman running around in bondage, nipple tassels and lacy lingerie trying to save the world, it’s what we’ve all been waiting for right?

Some say yes, some say no.

Agent Provocateur, the sexually explicit lingerie designer label, has finally decided to appeal to the geeks of our world by creating a comic book called New World Order: Mission to Earth.

In true Provocateur style, a sexy, super-hero themed photo shoot features throughout the comic doubling it as a catalogue for their August lingerie range. Oh so smart.

Gone are the days when women were the damsels in distress waiting for a big, strong man – sporting steroid sized muscles and socks shoved in his crotch – to come save the day. The comic portrays females as strong and fearless superheros, depicting them as the dominant not the dominated.

Mission to Earth appeals to both the reader’s geeky and sexual side. However, it’s not only your classic male geek reading the comic for a quick thrill, but also strong, dominant women…or those who want to be.

2 10 2009

A groundbreaking experiment where someone gives a 4 year old kid a marshmallow and then leaves them alone in the room for 15 minutes. If they haven’t eaten the marshmallow by the end of the experiment then they will get another one.

watch the video’s they’re classic.

In this short talk from TED U, Joachim de Posada shares a landmark experiment on delayed gratification — and how it can predict future success.

some sweet sounds

2 10 2009

This first video was made by a  very tallented designer and ex colleague of mine Gavin Leisfield and its wicked.

the one reminds me of a film called Timecode by Mike Figis where 4 cameras film continuously in 1 taked with no edits with 4 storylines running in real time and all intertwining with one and other. it’s a serious masterpiece.
