Post Digital Marketing 2009

13 07 2009

What happens now that digital media is the norm, we can’t keep treating as a separate entity, this is just real life.

I found this great presentation by blindly following a tweet from my friend Racheal (thanks Rach) and it turned out to be very rewarding. A bit long but full of insight and beautifully presented.

well worth a look.

Chose a different ending…

This is a great new campaign from the COI against youth knife crime. The ‘chose the outcome’ story is not new to youtube but i think it is perfect for the target audience. By chosing different outcomes you get to learn about all the other aspects of the law to do with carrying a knife. Possession alone carried a mandatory charge and up to 4 years in prison, if you are found to be in possession of a knife at an incident where someone gets killed you are deemed just as responsible as the murderer and face life in jail.

If you chose not to carry the knife and follow the path to a friends house instead you are rewarded with a bonus music video and interview with UK rapper J2K.

Element is a DJ

I’ve been super impressed with the fre music software out ther at the moment. Starting off with that hand drawn beat machine that i’ve never been able to find since; what was it called? Daves beat box or something.
The latest one i’ve come accross and so far my favourate is Hobnox. I have absoluitly zero musical tallent but it allows complete music imbeciles like myself to make beats in a variety of styles which actually turn out sounding alright.

As well as standard synths and mixers you can also use the tone matrix which as best i can describe is a visual music interface.

I’d love to make a photoshop/ tone matrix mashup, where you can use different brushes to make dirrerent sounds and different layers would reflect different layers in the song, like samples or beats or whatever.
